ITINERARY FOR: 10 DAYS TOUR FROM FES TO TANGIER

DAY 1 – FES TO MERZOUGA (SAHARA DESERT)

Your journey begins with an early departure from Fes, heading south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. The road winds through forested hills and high plateaus before reaching Midelt, a peaceful town framed by mountain ranges and known for its orchards and mineral heritage.

Continuing southward, the landscape gradually transforms as you enter the Ziz Valley, where vast palm groves stretch along the riverbanks, framed by rugged cliffs and desert formations. This striking contrast between lush greenery and arid terrain marks your gradual approach to the Sahara.

By late afternoon, arrival in Merzouga signals your gateway to the desert. Here, you will mount camels for a serene trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi. As the sun descends, the sand shifts through shades of amber and rose. Upon reaching your luxury desert camp, you will enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner accompanied by Berber music beneath an expansive starlit sky.

DAY 2 – MERZOUGA DESERT EXPLORATION

Rise early to witness the sunrise over the dunes — a moment of profound stillness and natural beauty.

After breakfast, dedicate the day to exploring the desert region. Visit Khamlia village, known for its vibrant Gnawa musical traditions rooted in sub-Saharan heritage. A 4×4 excursion allows you to explore hidden oases, fossil-rich areas, and nomadic settlements, offering insight into desert life and survival.

Return to your camp in the afternoon to relax and absorb the tranquility of the Sahara. As evening falls, gather around the campfire for dinner, storytelling, and stargazing in one of the clearest night skies imaginable.

DAY 3 – MERZOUGA TO TODRA GORGE AND DADES VALLEY

After breakfast, depart the golden dunes and journey toward Todra Gorge. This dramatic canyon, carved by the Todra River, features towering limestone cliffs rising vertically on either side of a narrow valley — a spectacular natural formation admired by hikers and climbers alike.

Following time to explore the gorge, continue toward the Dades Valley, often referred to as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” The landscape is dotted with fortified villages and remarkable rock formations sculpted by time and erosion. Overnight in a comfortable hotel in the Dades Valley.

DAY 4 – DADES VALLEY, OUARZAZATE, AND AIT BENHADDOU TO MARRAKECH

After breakfast, proceed toward Ouarzazate, famously known as the “Hollywood of Morocco” due to its cinematic history.

En route, visit Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar and one of Morocco’s most iconic fortified villages. Its earthen architecture and labyrinthine alleys have served as the setting for numerous international productions, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Explore the ancient pathways and admire panoramic views from the hilltop.

Continue across the High Atlas Mountains via the breathtaking Tizi n’Tichka Pass, where dramatic scenery unfolds at every turn. Arrival in Marrakech by late afternoon and overnight stay in a traditional riad or hotel.

DAY 5 – MARRAKECH EXPLORATION

Spend the day discovering Marrakech, one of Morocco’s most dynamic and captivating cities.

Begin with visits to the Koutoubia Mosque (exterior), the historic Saadian Tombs, and the enchanting Majorelle Garden. Wander through the medina’s intricate network of souks where artisans create leather goods, ceramics, textiles, and metalwork.

In the afternoon, experience the vibrant atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fnaa square — a lively stage of storytellers, musicians, performers, and culinary delights. Overnight in Marrakech.

DAY 6 – MARRAKECH TO ESSAOUIRA AND BACK TO MARRAKECH

Travel westward to Essaouira along scenic roads lined with argan trees, where goats may famously be seen perched in branches.

Upon arrival, explore the charming medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site distinguished by whitewashed walls and blue shutters. Stroll along the historic ramparts and picturesque harbor, and enjoy fresh seafood overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Return to Marrakech in the late afternoon for overnight stay.
