DAY 2: OUARZAZATE – TODGHA GORGES – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA DESERT
After breakfast, departure toward the Sahara Desert begins. The morning includes a visit to the historic Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate, followed by a scenic drive through the Valley of Roses and the Dades Valley, both known for dramatic rock formations and traditional mud-brick architecture.
Arrival at the Todgha Gorges offers time for a leisurely walk through towering limestone canyons carved by the Todgha River. This natural wonder provides a striking contrast to the surrounding desert plains.
Continuing through Tinjdad and Erfoud—an area famous for fossil workshops and date cultivation—the landscape gradually becomes more arid. Upon reaching Merzouga, vehicles are left behind as the adventure continues by camel across the dunes of Erg Chebbi.
As the sun descends, you will pause atop a high dune to admire the Sahara bathed in golden and amber hues. Arrival at the desert camp follows, where a traditional dinner awaits. The evening unfolds with Berber music around the campfire beneath a vast canopy of stars. Overnight in a luxury desert tent.

The excursion includes visits to seasonal desert lakes, hidden oases, and fossil-rich terrains. You will meet nomadic families living within the dunes and gain insight into their traditional lifestyle while sharing mint tea in their tents.
A stop in Khamlia village offers the opportunity to experience the powerful rhythms of Gnawa music, rooted in Sub-Saharan African heritage. After a full day of cultural and natural discovery, return to your hotel near the dunes for the evening.
