ITINERARY FOR: 5 DAY TOUR FROM CASABLANCA TO THE DESERT

DAY 1: CASABLANCA – MARRAKECH

Your journey begins with a warm welcome at Casablanca Airport or your accommodation. The day starts with a panoramic tour of Morocco’s economic capital. You will visit the remarkable Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, dramatically positioned along the Atlantic coastline. Its intricate craftsmanship and architectural grandeur reflect the finest Moroccan artistry.

You will also explore the Corniche promenade, enjoy views of the ocean, and pass through parts of the historic old quarter, gaining insight into the city’s blend of tradition and modernity.

In the afternoon, departure toward Marrakech. Upon arrival, check into your riad or hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Marrakech.

DAY 2: MARRAKECH – OUARZAZATE – DRAA VALLEY – ZAGORA

After breakfast, departure southward across the High Atlas Mountains. The ascent through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass offers breathtaking panoramic views of rugged peaks, terraced fields, and remote Berber villages clinging to the hillsides.

Arrival in Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Hollywood of Africa.” Visit the historic Kasbah Taourirt, a former residence of the Glaoui family, showcasing traditional southern Moroccan architecture.

The journey continues through the magnificent Draa Valley, home to Morocco’s longest palm grove. This lush ribbon of greenery stretches along the riverbanks, dotted with mud-brick kasbahs and fortified villages.

Upon arrival in Zagora, you will exchange your vehicle for camels and begin your desert trek into the dunes. The gentle rhythm of the camel ride allows you to fully absorb the serene desert atmosphere as the sun descends.

DAY 3: ZAGORA – DRAA VALLEY – AIT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH

Wake early to witness the desert sunrise, when the dunes glow in shades of gold and rose. After breakfast at the camp, return by camel to meet your driver.

The journey retraces part of the Draa Valley, offering new perspectives of its palm groves and traditional villages. Continue toward Ait Ben Haddou, the most famous ksar in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This fortified village of earthen clay architecture has served as the setting for numerous international films and series. A guided walk through its narrow alleys reveals centuries of caravan history.

After the visit, begin the scenic drive back across the High Atlas Mountains. Arrival in Marrakech in the late afternoon. Overnight stay in your riad or hotel.

DAY 4: MARRAKECH – CITY TOUR

After breakfast, enjoy a guided cultural exploration of Marrakech, known as the “Red City.” The day begins with a visit to the serene Menara Gardens, followed by the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, whose minaret dominates the city skyline.

Continue to the Saadian Tombs, an exquisite example of Saadian dynasty craftsmanship, and the Bahia Palace, a masterpiece of Moroccan-Andalusian architecture. Visit the Dar Si Said Museum to admire traditional arts and craftsmanship.
